It was an amazing outpouring of love and generosity!
SDSC students and the St. Columba School of Religious Education donated and personally gifts for over 400 local children during our 2016 Advent Outreach Program. The gifts will be delivered to less fortunate children served by the Center for Prevention of Child Abuse, Astor Home, and His Table Ministries. These children live in difficult, heartbreaking situations. For many, Christmas gifts are beyond their means. We hope our gifts will make a small difference for these children who would otherwise go without.
Accompanying the gifts will be hats, gloves, mittens and scarves donated by SDSC families and St. Columba Church Parishioners. We hope these gifts will keep the children warm this winter and that their hearts too will be warmed by the love shared by our school and parish community.
Many thanks go to our SDSC Outreach Committee for coordinating this year’s Advent Outreach, including Maryanne Silverio, Louise DiPalermo and Lisa Marie Schulhoff. We are also grateful to all of “Santa’s Helpers” who volunteered to help the students wrap all of the gifts.
